As you know I took over Natural Pathways last summer as Geoff has moved onto pastures new; he is soon to be running a Wilderness Therapy Programme for addicts. I would like to wish him success with his new venture and l'm looking forward to assisting him on his first programme this year.

Its an exciting time with the changes at Natural Pathways and its just the right time for a brand new course, I'm delighted to introduce the First ever Uk Women's Bushcraft/Survival Skills and Nature Awareness Course. This exciting new course will be launched in March and repeated again in May. See website for details.

 Last summer we had the pleasure of the Guardian Newspaper including us in their education section in an article about why more and more people are sending their children on survival holidays. The photographer took a beautiful photograph of Jack blowing his fire on our families camp in July. See below, opposite.

The BBC South East news and Radio Kent followed the same theme and came for a days filming in August; asking families why is there a sudden interest in the outdoors and learning these ancient skills.

I would like to thank those of you who took part in both of these events. Also a big thank you to all the instructors and helpers that assisted on the events last year and to frank and Matthew for helping with the website.

A day filming with the BBC SE News

With the Families fire & shelter daybeing so popular and with requests for different days, I have introduced two new Touching the Earth Days.

Firstly the Animal Wisdom Day; we will be looking how animals move and ways we can get closer to wild life. We'll play lots of nature awareness games like Fox the Fox and Night Hunters.

Secondly is the Fire by Friction Day; learning the art of the bow drill set. This day is for ten years and above as this skill takes patience and persistence.

 I'm excited about introducing three Wilderness Family Camps of varing lengths this year. After listening to some of your frustrations of not being able to make the camps during the school holidays, I have added a weekend camp in the middle of the summer term. I am also offering a Easter Camp of three days and a longer four day camp at the beginning of the Summer holiday.
